Welcome to Pre-Kindergarten!

Here at Bertie County Schools, we recognize the importance of early childhood education and the positive impact quality preschool programs can have on a child's development. Our Pre-K program is an exciting opportunity for young children before kindergarten. Pre-K helps children learn and grow in a supportive environment and offers activities that promote their development in areas like language, math, and social skills.

Preschool in Bertie County Schools is rich with experiences, and certified teachers, and is designed to assist your child in becoming a lifelong learner. Pre-K is offered at no cost to eligible families. All children must be determined eligible according to the pre-kindergarten guidelines. Children must be 4 years old on or before August 31st of the current year.

Bertie County Schools offers comprehensive services to preschool children ages 3-5 with special needs. If you are concerned about the speech-language, hearing, motor, cognitive, self-help, or social-emotional skills of your child, please call BCS Exceptional Children's Department at (252)794-6000 x6073.

Bertie County Schools provides preschool programming at Colerain Elementary, West Berie Elementary, and Windsor Elementary Schools. For more information regarding our preschool program, preschool services, or concerns regarding your child's development, please contact Bobbi Holley at (252)794-2260.

Shakeya Robbins

Here's a family guide to assessment.

This guide aims to provide an understanding of the importance of assessments, offer an overview of the different assessments that students take, and suggest some questions that families can ask teachers about assessments. Furthermore, the guide explains how North Carolina ensures that assessments are fair and accessible to all students.
